BBFC advice: Contains strong sex references, language, violence, drug misuse

My dad absolutely loves Mrs Brown's Boys with all the double entendres and that good old Irish humour.
However, it has no allure for me. I find it crass and unfunny.
Therefore, in my view, there was unlikely to be any hope for Damo & Ivor, The Movie which goes down much the same street.
This is an adaptation of a TV comedy which stars Andrew Quirke as two twins who have been brought up on either side of Dublin's wealth divide before being brought together in their 20s.
Quirke's Damo is an inner city estate chancer who still lives with the sex-obsessed grandmother (Ruth McCabe).
They have been joined by Ivor who was educated at a private school and is now meant to sound upper crust but instead prompts memories of Lloyd Grossman.
Anyway, Ivor is obsessed with finding their mother and sees the opportunity when he learns that the pair might have a triplet in the form of a travelling bare-knuckled boxer.
Thus, the whole family packs up a stolen camper van and they go in search of him.
Along the way, they steal lots of stuff, take lots of drugs but, nevertheless, are presented as a family with whom the audience is meant to fall in love.
The problem is that the characters are neither funny nor particularly likeable.
Ok, they are nice to their gran and family always comes first but, those admirable traits aside, they are work-shy rip-off merchants.
But worst of all, I found the comedy of Rob and Ronan Burke's film simply banal and did not laugh once.
I suspect my reaction is in contrast to Andrew Quirke's fans who will probably be tickled by Mrs Brown's Boys.
In which case I should send my dad a video.

Reasons to watch: If you are into banal humour
Reasons to avoid: If you are even remotely discerning

Laughs: None
Jumps: None
Vomit: None
Nudity: None
Overall rating: 2.5/10

Director quote - Rob and Ronan Burke: "We would love Damo & Ivor to reach as wide an audience as possible and Carnaby are the perfect company to make this happen.”

The big question - Why do people find this funny?
