How could it be possible to have a 26-year football career without ever having played a match?
As they say, fact is stranger than fiction and that is certainly the case in the crazy world of Carlos Henrique Raposo, aka Carlos Kaiser.
Kaiser managed to convince managers and directors from clubs in Brazil, Mexico, Corsica, America, Japan and Saudi Arabia that he should be signed up.
Then, after playing no games through faked injuries, he moved on.
Actually, whether he was in as many places he claims is even a matter of controversy because contributors to  Louis Myles' movie say they have evidence that he did not move from his South American homeland.
Raposo is interviewed at length in the movie which also has contributions from Bazilian football greats such as Carlos Alberto, Bebeto, Junior and Renato Gaucho.
Kaiser looked so uncannily like Gaucho that he was able to impersonate him in posh Rio nightclubs and bed hundreds of women.
Ironically, Gaucho counts Kaiser as a friend despite being fully aware that he is a footballing imposter.
Indeed, the subject's likability is key to making this documentary so engaging. None of the interviewees wanted retribution or was even angry.
And yet somehow Kaiser (was he nicknamed after Franz Beckenbauer or a bottle of beer?) managed to fool club owners, managers and even fans that he was a top-class player without even playing one game.
Surely this cannot be true, can it? Well, I checked on Wikipedia and, hilariously he has a career guide which has the figure zero in the games column next to the clubs to which he was contracted.
But this isn't just a funny story - there is a kick in the tale about Kaiser's current life which had his former 'teammates' in tears.
Kaiser - The Greatest Footballer Never To Play Football is a one-off. A film about a unique story which could never be repeated.
It presumes knowledge about football but if you know about the beautiful game, you will be astonished by it.

Reasons to watch: Incredible true story
Reasons to avoid: Presumes football knowledge

Laughs: Chuckles
Jumps: None
Vomit: None
Nudity: None
Overall rating: 8.5/10

Director quote - Louis Myles: "Nobody in Brazil could make the film and the reason for that is that Kaiser's character as a scammer or a con artist is quite common."

The big question - How did he get away with it for so long?
