BBFC advice: Contains very strong language, strong gory violence, sexual violence references

I wrote a weekly newspaper column for more than ten years and was often abused on social media as a result but I would like to set the record straight that I did not murder any of my readers.
Even though  I might have temporarily wished ill upon the worse perpetrators, I didn't feel the need to track them down in reality.
Unlike Femke Boot (Katja Herbers), whose left-wing diatribes cause a very extreme reaction among the not-so-politically-correct trolls.
Femke's public persona is as a writer and TV personality who speaks against vitriol on social media appeals for people to be 'nice' to each other.
But she becomes more and more wound up by outrageously spiteful posts and even believes one is from her next-door neighbour (Rein Hofman).
She takes out minor retribution but gets a taste for revenge while, at the same time, trying to lead a normal life with her daughter (Claire Porro) and new boyfriend (Bram van der Kelen).
I admit that horror comedies aren't usually my bag but Ivo Van Aart's film has a similar type of tongue-in-cheek feel to A Serial Killer's Guide To Life which we found disarming earlier in lockdown.
The added element to resonate is clearly that of hate perpetrated over Twitter.
Herbers also carries off the frustrated journalist role splendidly, moving on from exasperation to manic aggression.
When I was a newspaper editor, I often remarked that people would not abuse me face-to-face as easily as they did on social media or even by email.
After all, as much as they thought they did, they didn't know me.
But I didn't yearn for blood... honest.

Reasons to watch: Engaging comedy horror
Reasons to avoid: There's a lot of fake blood

Laughs: Three
Jumps: None
Vomit: Yes
Nudity: Yes
Overall rating: 6.5/10

Did you know? A contributor and columnist for The Guardian,
Erwin James Monahan, is a convicted murderer. He has been writing for The Guardian since 1998, writing under the name Erwin James.  He served 20 years of a life sentence.

The final word. Katja Herbers: "It's a small film with a small budget but I think they did it very well and I think that it came out at the right moment." Scream
